Release time:2020-10-17 14:17:47

On September 21st and October 12th, 2020, Research Fellow Ren Jiawen, Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory of Cryosphere Science, Northwest Institute of Eco-Environmental Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, taught the course "Introduction of Cryosphere Science" to the undergraduates of the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University.

Ren gave the students a comprehensive and detailed introduction of the classification principle of cryosphere thermodynamics and morphology and the regularity geographical distribution and zonal distribution; focused on the physical processes of the cryosphere and the physical and chemical properties of the cryospheric elements such as glaciers, frozen soil, and snow. He pointed out that the research on the physical process of the cryosphere was very important, which has great significance for the development and evolution of cryosphere elements. The courses not only increased the students' understanding of cryosphere physics, but more importantly, cultivated their dialectical thinking which meant to be good at discovering problems, questioning boldly, and approaching scientific research with humility and rigor.
