Reporter Profile:
Wang Qinxue, Ph.D., is a Principal Researcher at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan. He obtained his master's degree from Beijing Normal University in 1989 and worked at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1994, he pursued his Ph.D. at Hokkaido University and has been with NIES since 1998.
His research focuses on climate change, water environments, and the sustainable management of agro-pastoral ecosystems. Dr. Wang has led over ten international collaborative projects involving China, Japan, Mongolia, and other countries. He established the Asia-Pacific Environmental Comprehensive Monitoring Network and developed the East Asian Water and Material Cycle Integrated Assessment System, with results adopted by multiple governmental agencies across several countries.
Dr. Wang has published nearly 300 papers, including over 100 SCI papers, with a total of over 8,000 citations. He also serves as an overseas review expert for the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a member of the Alliance of National and International Scientists for the Belt and Road Regions, and a committee member of the Science Council of Japan. He has received multiple international honors, including the Medal of Merit from Mongolia and the Frontier Researcher Award in Environmental Ecology, Japan.
