On June 14, the Youth League General Branch of University Offices and the Youth League Committee of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences jointly conducted a university-level model Themed Youth League Day Activity at the Liancheng Forest Ecosystem Field Scientific Observation and Research Station. Hou Jianmin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of University Offices, Li Ting, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, young faculty and staff from university offices, members of the first Youth League branch of 2025-level graduate students in Physical Geography, and representatives of teachers and students from the field station participated in this activity.

The activity included thematic reports, theoretical study, symposium exchanges, and field practical study sessions. Focusing on the construction of ecological civilization, building a world leader in science and technology, and the requirements for youth work, it used the field station as a real-life classroom to organize young teachers and students to go deep into the frontline of scientific research to learn and inherit the spirit of scientists. It built a practical platform for offices to serve scientific research and for two-way collaborative education, and promoted the in-depth implementation of Party building guiding Youth League building and the tangible implementation of joint construction between Youth League organizations.

All participants intensively studied General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on the construction of ecological civilization, youth work, and building a world leader in science and technology, and listened to Professor Zhang Junzhou's systematic introduction of the station's construction history, ecological monitoring system, scientific research achievements, and development plan.

Participants conducted discussions around inheriting the spirit of scientists, strengthening frontline services, and youth contributions in their posts. Young faculty and staff from the University Office, Human Resources Department, Assets Management Office, Infrastructure Construction Office, and Medical School delivered speeches combining their positions, expressing their commitment to optimizing scientific research service processes, moving service checkpoints forward, and improving field infrastructure support to unblock the chain of scientific research guarantee services. Graduate student representatives from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences stated that they would base themselves on their majors, take root in the frontline of ecology, and integrate their academic pursuits into the protection of the Yellow River basin and the construction of ecological civilization.

Li Ting affirmed the effectiveness of this activity. She stated that the Liancheng field station is a high-quality position for the university's practical education and promoting the spirit of scientists. Generations of scientific researchers have long stationed themselves in the mountains and devoted themselves to tackling key problems, serving as vivid practical teaching materials for youth growth and development. The Youth League organizations of both sides should take this joint construction activity as an opportunity to build a normalized exchange and linkage platform, and promote the deep integration of Youth League work with discipline construction, scientific research education, and ecological protection. Youth should keep in mind the "great matters of the state", actively engage in ecological protection, and contribute youthful strength to the high-quality development of the university and the construction of national ecological civilization.

Hou Jianmin recognized the innovative form and practical value of this jointly constructed Themed Youth League Day Activity. He stated that field scientific researchers station themselves in deep mountains year-round and work silently, vividly interpreting the spirit of scientists in the new era. He urged young people in university offices to firm up their ideals and beliefs, establish a strong sense of frontline service, proactively go down to scientific research sites to connect with the needs of teachers and students, perform their duties pragmatically based on their positions, "take the lead and set an example" in the construction of the university, and continuously improve the level of management and service.

After the symposium, the Youth League organizations of both sides visited and comforted teachers and students stationed at the field station, conveying organizational care. All personnel visited the station's laboratories, office areas, and living areas for teachers and students on-site. Subsequently, all personnel went to the Qilian Mountain forests to conduct field ecological study. Under the guidance of Professor Zhang Junzhou, teachers and students on-site learned practical skills such as vegetation quadrat surveys and hydrological data collection, gained knowledge about water conservation and biodiversity protection in the Qilian Mountains, and witnessed the effectiveness of ecological protection in Northwest China on-site, further establishing the concepts of green development and serving the country through scientific research.

This activity organically combined theoretical study with practical study, promoted young people in university offices to transform their work style, go down to the frontline of scientific research, and precisely serve teachers and students, and guided young students to take root in the real-life classroom of the field, temper their original aspirations and missions, and hone their scientific research skills. Participating youth expressed that they would take this practice as an opportunity to inherit the spirit of scientists, be pragmatic and strive for excellence based on their positions, guard green mountains and clear waters with youthful strength, and contribute to the improvement of university construction.
