Professor He Canfei is the Dean of the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University, a Boya Distinguished Professor at Peking University, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and a Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education. He serves as the Chairman of the Geography Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Science and Technology Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Vice President of the Geographical Society of China, Vice Chairman of the National Institute of Economic Geography, Vice President of the Regional Science Association of China, Vice President of the China Association of Regional Economics, Vice President of the China Society of Urban Economy, Vice Chairman of the Geographical Society Beijing, Chairman of the Regional Studies Association (RSA) China Division, and an executive committee member of the Commission on the Dynamics of Economic Spaces of the International Geographical Union (IGU). His research interests are economic geography, and urban and regional development. He has published nearly 380 academic papers in renowned domestic and international journals, including over 120 papers in international journals. He is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of journals such as Geographical Research, Geographical Science, World Regional Studies, and Urban and Environmental Studies. He is also the co-editor of Growth and Change, an international corresponding editor for Urban Studies, and serves on the editorial boards of more than 10 English journals, including Economic Geography, Progress in Economic Geography, and Professional Geographer. He is the Editor-in-Chief for the Industrial Geography volume of the Wiley-AAG International Encyclopedia of Geography; the Deputy Editor-in-Chief for Chinese Economic Geography in the Chinese Geography volume of the third edition of the Encyclopedia of China; and the Editor-in-Chief for Industrial Geography in the Geography volume of the third edition of the Encyclopedia of China. He has published Advanced Economic Geography, Industrial Geography in Contemporary China and a series of works on economic geography. He has received awards such as the Beijing Outstanding Teacher, the National First-Class Course Leader, the Third National Outstanding Geographical Science and Technology Worker Award, the Ninth National Youth Geographical Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of the Sixth Excellent Scientific Research Achievement Award for Higher Education Institutions from the Ministry of Education, and the Second Prize for Land and Resources Science and Technology. His research was selected as one of the Top Ten Research Advances in Chinese Geographical Sciences of 2021 by the Geographical Society of China. He was continuously listed as one of Elsevier's Most Cited Chinese Researchers (Social Sciences) from 2015-2020, and in Applied Economics from 2021-2023. He is also listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists.
