At the invitation of Prof. Li Yu and Prof. Wang Xin from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, and Key Laboratory of Western China's Environmental Systems, Ministry of Education, China, Prof. David Taylor from the National University of Singapore visited our university for academic exchange and delivered a lecture on October 20, 2025.

Reporter Profile:

Prof. David Taylor is the Head of the Department of Geography and Provost's Chair Professor (Tropical Environmental Change) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He has dedicated his career to the study of tropical environmental change, carbon cycling, and wetland management. Under his leadership, the Department of Geography, NUS, ranked 6th globally and 1st in Asia in the 2025 QS rankings. He leads several significant research programs, including the Carbon Governance in Southeast Asia (CGSEA), the Integrated Tropical Peatlands Research Programme (INTPREP), and the EU FP7 project "HEALTHY FUTURES", which have regional and international impact. Prof. Taylor has published over 180 papers in prestigious journals such as Nature and Science, with nearly 11,750 citations on Google Scholar, and his research has had a profound influence on climate governance policies in ASEAN and globally. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography and has previously held positions such as Head of the Department of Geography and Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Trinity College Dublin.
