Reporter Profile:
Yang Wei serves as an Associate Professor at the Center for Environmental Remote Sensing (CEReS), Chiba University, Japan. He earned his Ph.D. in Science from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, in 2011. He held research positions at the University of Tsukuba, Beijing Normal University, and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) from 2011 to 2015, before joining the Center for Environmental Remote Sensing at Chiba University in 2016. His research fields include quantitative remote sensing, environmental modeling, and ecosystem ecology, focusing on the remote sensing estimation of biogeophysical parameters of water bodies and vegetation, as well as the response of terrestrial ecosystems to climate change. His research has been funded by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). He has made significant contributions to the development of core algorithms for the Global Change Observation Mission - Climate "SHIKISAI" (GCOM-C) satellite project of JAXA, involving products such as Leaf Area Index (LAI), vegetation phenology, and carbon fluxes. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor for the international journal Remote Sensing and a youth editorial board member for the journal The Innovations Geoscience. Chiba University, a prestigious comprehensive national university founded in 1949, is located within the Greater Tokyo Area. The Center for Environmental Remote Sensing at Chiba University is Japan's sole institution dedicated to remote sensing research and education, having cultivated and supplied a significant number of remote sensing professionals across Asia.
