Reporter Profile:
Prof. Kazuhito ICHII serves as a Professor and Executive Vice Director at the Center for Environmental Remote Sensing (CEReS), Chiba University, Japan. He earned his Ph.D. from Nagoya University in 2002 and has held positions at Nagoya University, NASA Ames Research Center, Fukushima University, and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC). In 2017, he joined Chiba University, where he leads the Environmental Monitoring and Modeling (ENVMM) research group. His research focuses on terrestrial carbon and water cycles, ecosystem monitoring, and the application of satellite remote sensing and flux observation technologies. Prof. Kazuhito ICHII currently holds several key positions, including Chair of the AsiaFlux Network, Chair of the JapanFlux Network, Coordinating Lead Author for Chapter 2 of the IPBES Global Assessment Report, and Council Member of the Japan Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. He plays a leading role in international collaborations related to geostationary satellite applications, carbon cycle research, and biodiversity monitoring. His publications have been cited over 14,000 times, with an H-index of 48. Chiba University, a prestigious comprehensive national university founded in 1949, is located within the Greater Tokyo Area. The Center for Environmental Remote Sensing at Chiba University is Japan's sole institution dedicated to remote sensing research and education, having cultivated and supplied a significant number of remote sensing professionals across Asia.
