TitleFrom 36°N to 51°N: Visiting the UK for Academic Exchange

Reporter Profile:

Peng Tingjiang is an Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University. He graduated from the Geography Base Class of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University in 2007, and received his Ph.D. in Physical Geography from Lanzhou University in 2012. He served as a Lecturer at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University from 2013 to 2019, and has been an Associate Professor at the same school since 2019. From September 2024 to August 2025, he was a visiting scholar at the Organic Geochemistry Unit, University of Bristol, UK. His research focuses on the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its eco-environmental effects, as well as biogeochemistry. Using Cenozoic basin sediments, Quaternary loess, and stratified landforms on the northeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau as research archives, he employs biomarkers to quantitatively reconstruct the paleotemperature and paleoclimate history of the region since the Neogene, providing biogeochemical evidence for interpreting tectonic–climate–ecological coupling. He has published 20 papers as first or corresponding author in journals such as Geophysical Research LettersChemical GeologyGeochemistryGeophysicsGeosystems, and Geomorphology. He has led Youth and General projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and participates in key NSFC projects, the Second Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition, and the Academic Growth Collection Project of Senior Scientists.
