Reporter Profile:

Dr. Su Bo received his B.S. degree in Geographical Science from Northwest Normal University in 2017 and his Ph.D. degree from Beijing Normal University in 2022. During his doctoral studies, he participated in a joint training program at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Beijing Normal University, the University of Gothenburg, and Stockholm University. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Cryosphere Stewardship Working Group of the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS), a Secretariat Member of the Earth Commission, a Council Member of the China Society of Cryospheric Science (in preparation), and a Member of the China Youth Committee of Future Earth. His research primarily focuses on the cryosphere and sustainable development.

To date, Dr. Su has published over 30 research papers and contributed as chapter lead author to five monographs or reports in both Chinese and English. He co-organized the popular science dialogue Global Warming, which was broadcast on the China Education Television Network. He serves on the editorial board of Asia-Pacific Journal of Atmospheric Sciences and reviews manuscripts for more than ten journals, including PNAS and Global Sustainability. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the Future Earth Young Scientist Award, the IACS Outstanding Early-Career Report Award, the Excellent Paper Award at the Annual Conference of the Geographical Society of China, the Zhou Tingru Doctoral Scholarship of Beijing Normal University, and the Special Research Excellence Award for Doctoral Students of Beijing Normal University.

In this lecture, Dr. Su will focus on his current work at the Stockholm Resilience Centre on the cryosphere safe operating space and provide an overview of the ongoing priorities of the IACS Cryosphere Stewardship Working Group.
