At the invitation of Prof. Pan Baotian and Prof. Wang Xin from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, and the Key Laboratory of Western China's Environmental Systems, Ministry of Education, China, Researcher Zhang Xinbao from the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited our university for academic exchange and delivered two lectures.

Reporter Profile:

Zhang Xinbao, male, graduated in 1967 from the Department of Geology, Nanjing University, majoring in Regional Geology. He is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) & Ministry of Water Resources (MWR), and serves as an advisor to the Director of the Institute. His research focuses on nuclear tracing, mountain hazards and environment, geomorphology, and soil and water conservation. He has served or is currently serving as Vice Chairman of the International Commission on Continental Erosion (ICCE), member of the Geomorphology Committee of the Geographical Society of China, member of the Small Watershed Management Committee of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation, and guest researcher at the Institute of Geochemistry (CAS), the Institute of Earth Environment (CAS), and the Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (CAS). He has successively led more than 20 projects under the National Key R&D Programs during the "Seventh Five-Year", "Eighth Five-Year", "Ninth Five-Year", and "Tenth Five-Year" plan periods, as well as projects under the National 973 Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He has published over 200 academic papers, including more than 60 papers indexed by SCI. He is the lead or co-author of four monographs. He has received three first prizes and one second prize for provincial/ministerial-level science and technology progress, as well as one third prize for natural sciences from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is one of the first batch of Academic and Technology Leaders of Sichuan Province. In 1992, he was awarded a special government allowance from the State Council. In 2022, he received the Norman Hudson Memorial Award from the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC).
