Title: Understanding climate, vegetation, fire and human interactions during the Holocene: new reconstruction and modelling approaches
Time: 9:00-10:00, July 13, 2026 (Monday)
Venue: Meeting Room 502, Qilian Hall, Chengguan Campus, Lanzhou University

Reporter Profile:
Sandy P. Harrison is Professor of Global Palaeoclimates and Biogeochemical Cycles in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Reading, UK. She has long been dedicated to research on palaeoclimate and palaeoenvironmental reconstruction, global vegetation modelling, fire disturbance, vegetation emissions, the improvement of plant functional types, and the evaluation of climate and vegetation models. In recent years, she has focused on the role of land-surface processes, the terrestrial biosphere, and hydrological processes in modulating regional climates of the past, present, and future, revealing the interactions between terrestrial ecosystems and climate change by integrating palaeoenvironmental reconstructions, modern observational data, and climate-model experiments. She is currently involved in international research projects such as SPECIAL and LEMONTREE, and serves as a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the PAGES SISAL working group. She is also a High-level Foreign Expert at the Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University, and has broad international influence in the fields of palaeoclimate reconstruction, global-change ecology, terrestrial ecosystem modelling, and Earth system model evaluation. Prof. Harrison has published over 400 academic articles, with a total of more than 68,000 citations and an h-index of 130.
