Chen Deliang is a Distinguished Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, serving as Dean of the Department of Earth System Science. He is a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a member of six other academies worldwide, and is an internationally renowned climatologist. His long-term research focuses on climate change and its impacts on water resources and energy systems. Since joining Tsinghua University in 2024, he has actively promoted the interdisciplinary integration of climate dynamics, risk science, sustainable transition, and energy systems, and has participated in developing a framework for enhancing climate resilience in global wind solar energy systems, providing scientific foundations for the synergy between energy security and decarbonization. He previously served as Executive Director of the International Science Council (ISC) and Chief Scientific Advisor for the World Economic Forum's Climate Resilience Report. He currently serves as Co-Chair of Future Earth, and was a Lead Author or Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC Fifth and Sixth Assessment Reports. He has published over 800 papers and has been repeatedly recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher globally. He has received the People's Republic of China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award and the Royal Swedish Order of the Polar Star. He holds extensive influence in international research collaboration, climate governance, and sustainable energy transition.
