Professor Ren-Cai Dong from the Institute of Eco-Environmental Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Visits Lanzhou University and Delivers an Academic Lecture on "Ecological Product Survey Methods Based on Scenic Ecology"

Invited by the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, and Professor Jie Gong and Associate Professor Zhen-Bang Ma from the Key Laboratory of Western Environmental Education of the Ministry of Education, Professor Ren-Cai Dong, a researcher from the Institute of Eco-Environmental Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited Lanzhou University on April 7, 2025, and delivered an academic lecture on "Ecological Product Survey Methods Based on Scenic Ecology." The lecture was chaired by Professor Jie Gong.

During the lecture, Professor Dong systematically explained the theoretical value and practical significance of scenic ecology in building a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. He began by introducing nature’s contributions to humanity from the perspective of ecosystem services. Then, he discussed how humans perceive nature through sight, hearing, smell, touch, and integrated perception. This was followed by an introduction to the core principles and methodology of scenic ecology. He also presented case studies on ecological product information surveys. Furthermore, Professor Dong provided a systematic discussion of the cutting-edge progress in the study of ecological damage, combining theoretical frameworks and empirical analysis.

At the end of the lecture, Professor Dong engaged in an enthusiastic exchange with the attending faculty and students, answering questions regarding the study and research of scenic ecology. The attendees expressed that the lecture not only expanded their academic horizons but also provided new ideas and methodological references for research in related fields.
