On November 15, 2025, the 14th National GIS Application Skills Competition for University Students, jointly organized by the China Association of Geographic Information and the Geographical Society of China, and co-hosted by the Education Working Committee of the China Association of Geographic Information and the College of Surveying and Science Technology at Xi'an University of Science and Technology, was grandly held at Xi'an University of Science and Technology. A team composed of four students—Mu Diwen, Zhu Zilin, Zhang Xinyi, and Fu Yichen—from the Geographic Information Science program of the Department of Information Geography at our school, under the guidance of Professor Cui Xia, achieved a remarkable result after a full day of intense competition, securing the National Second Prize.

This year's competition attracted participation from 181 universities across the country, involving 717 students and 327 instructors. The event comprehensively evaluated students' ability to utilize GIS software platforms, integrate relevant technologies and methods, and solve practical geoscientific problems. Key areas of assessment included geospatial data collection, storage, management, analysis, modeling, and cartography.
