From December 21 to 22, 2025, the Sub-forum of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences for the Lanzhou University 2025 "Yellow River Forum" for Young Scholars was successfully held at the Chengguan Campus of Lanzhou University. The forum was conducted through a combination of online and offline participation, inviting seven outstanding young scholars from home and abroad. It aimed to strengthen academic exchange and cooperation, promote interdisciplinary integration, and further attract and gather high-level talents from around the world.

On the afternoon of December 21, the leadership team of the School, heads of disciplines, and teacher representatives held an in-depth symposium with the seven young scholars. The meeting was hosted by Dean Li Yu, who extended a warm welcome to the scholars. He gave a brief introduction on the School's overview, talent introduction policies, basic teaching and research units, and team building to the young scholars. Li Yu emphasized that the School can provide a competitive development platform for outstanding young scholars and expressed his hope that they would actively engage in exchanges and gain insights during the forum.
At the symposium, the seven young scholars exchanged views one by one regarding their personal academic experiences, research directions, and future development plans. Coming from countries and regions such as the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia, they have achieved fruitful research results in fields including membrane separation materials, high-resolution remote sensing and ecological effects, eco-hydrology, archaeological science, and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating and environmental evolution. Several scholars expressed their intention to join the School during the meeting and planned to apply for various projects and talent programs through the School. This symposium further deepened the communication and understanding between the teams and the young scholars, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

On December 22, the seven young scholars delivered excellent academic presentations combining their own research directions and latest research results. The attending faculty and students engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with the scholars on the content of the reports, bringing cutting-edge academic dynamics and a collision of ideas to the School's faculty and students.
The holding of this Yellow River Forum not only built a platform for academic exchange for young scholars from home and abroad but also further promoted interdisciplinary integration and strengthened the willingness of young talents to stay in Lanzhou and join Lanzhou University. The School will continue to uphold the philosophy of "Openness, Inclusiveness, and Innovation", strengthen cooperation and exchange with renowned universities and research institutions at home and abroad, and continuously enhance discipline competitiveness and international influence. Meanwhile, the School will continue to deepen the implementation of the "Strategy of Strengthening the School with Talent", attracting more outstanding young talents to join with more active, open, and effective talent policies, injecting new vitality and momentum into the School's development.
