At the invitation of Researcher Li Xin from the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Nian Yanyun from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, Researcher Pei Tao from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited our university for academic exchange and delivered a lecture on July 29, 2025.

Reporter Profile:

Pei Tao, male, is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2015). He is currently the Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information System and the Director of the Geographic Information Science Research Office. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Urban Big Data Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies and a member of the Theory and Method Working Committee of the China Association for Geospatial Industry and Sciences. He was a visiting scholar at Imperial College London (2007) and the Senseable City Lab at MIT (2012-2013). His main research areas include spatial big data mining, geostatistics, urban sensing, and text big data mining. He has long been engaged in research on spatio-temporal data mining and spatial statistics, and has published more than 70 papers in domestic and international journals, including over 30 SCI papers, and has co-authored 3 monographs. He serves on the editorial boards of journals such as Geo-Information Science and Computer Science and Application. He has received honors such as the CAS Zhu Li Yuehua Award for Excellent Teachers (2017), the National Youth Geography Science and Technology Award (2011), the CAS Wang Kuancheng "Lu Jiaxi Youth Talent Award" (2008), and the Beijing Nova Program (2007). He has made significant academic achievements in innovating spatial data analysis methods and in urban big data research, promoting the theory and application of geographic information science in China.
