At the invitation of Western China's Environment and Ecological Security Think Tank, Lanzhou University, former Senior Journalist at People's Daily Jiang Jianke visited our university for academic exchange and delivered a lecture on August 6, 2025.

Reporter Profile:

Jiang Jianke, former Senior Journalist at People's Daily, currently serves as an Visiting Professor at China Agricultural University, Northwest A&F University, and a Professor at Central China Agricultural University. He has been honored with more than 100 journalism awards, including the China Journalism Award. He has been jointly recognized as a National Advanced Worker in Science Popularization and an Outstanding Individual in the Implementation of the National Scientific Literacy Outline by multiple central agencies including the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education, China.

In December 2007, he was awarded the "Outstanding Journalist" prize by the World Bank and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). He has published over 3,000 articles in People's Daily, including more than 200 editorials, commentator articles, and science and technology columns. A number of his works have been included in secondary school language textbooks and Chinese language tests for the high school entrance examination (Zhongkao), and his several reports have been reprinted by influential media such as Xinhua Digest.

He has compiled over 400 internal reference reports, more than 100 of which received instructions and comments from central and ministerial-level leadership. He has presided over or participated in more than 10 provincial/ministerial-level research projects, including Major Programs under the National Social Science Fund of China, as well as projects commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Technology, China.

He has published over 40 academic papers in journals including Issues in Agricultural Economy and Journal of China Agricultural University (Social Sciences Edition), and has authored more than 10 monographs, such as Disruptive Agricultural TechnologiesMedia Communication and New Rural Construction, and On the Essence of Agriculture.

He was elected as an Executive Council Member of the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Journalism and serves as Director of its Committee on Agricultural Science Communication. Additionally, he holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Beijing Association of Science and Technology Journalists and Editors, and Director of its Specialized Committee on Decision-Making Consultation.
