At the invitation of Prof. Nian Yanyun from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, Researcher Su Yanjun from Institute of Botany, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited our university for academic exchange and delivered a lecture on September 19, 2025.

Reporter Profile:

Su Yanjun is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Botany, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was supported by the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars and selected for the talent program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

His research interest is to use remote sensing technology, mainly LIDAR, to quantify forest canopy structure and reveal its spatial pattern, as well as analyze the impacts of human activities and global change on forest ecosystems. Dr. Su has published over 40 papers as first or corresponding author in leading international journals such as Nature Climate ChangeScience AdvancesNature Communications, and Remote Sensing of Environment. He serves as an associate editor or editorial board member for academic journals such as Geoscience Data Journal and Chinese Journal of Plant Ecology. He has received several honors and awards, including the William A. Fischer Memorial Scholarship from the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the Li Xiaowen Youth Award for Remote Sensing Science, and the Youth Science and Technology Award from the China Society of Natural Resources.
