Reporter Profile:
Liu Laibao is a Hundred-Talents Scholar and Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong, and an alumnus of the Class of 2015 of the Department of Geography, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University. He holds a PhD from Peking University and completed postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich. His research focuses on climate change and carbon neutrality, mainly including the terrestrial carbon cycle, land-atmosphere interactions, and the transition to renewable, low-carbon energy. He has published more than 40 SCI papers, including over ten as first or corresponding author in international journals such as Nature, Nature Energy, Nature Water, and Nature Communications. His research findings have been cited multiple times across several chapters of the Working Group I report of the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has received funding including the Young Scientists Fund Program (Category B) of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and grants from the University Grants Committee (UGC) of Hong Kong, and has long been invited to serve as a reviewer for more than 30 academic journals, including Nature.
