Researcher Ding Yongjian Lectures on "Introduction to Cryospheric Science" for Undergraduate Students of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University

On October 28 and November 4, 2024, Researcher Ding Yongjian from the State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Science, Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered lectures on the course Introduction to Cryospheric Science to the Class of 2022 undergraduate students of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University. The lectures were held in Qinling Hall, Room B515, on the Yuzhong Campus of Lanzhou University.

In his lectures, Researcher Ding provided a comprehensive and detailed explanation of the interactions between the cryosphere and other Earth systems, including the climate system, surface system, ecosystem, hydrological system, and societal system. Incorporating the latest scientific research advancements, he systematically introduced topics such as the atmosphere-cryosphere feedback mechanisms, biosphere-cryosphere interactions, land surface processes, cold region hazards, as well as the impacts of the cryosphere on humanity and strategies for adaptation.
