From April 26 to 29, 2026, an enrollment publicity team consisting of Li Ting, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Associate Professor Wei Yi, a master's supervisor, and Jiang Ling, a master's student, visited Sichuan to carry out admissions promotion work.
According to the university's enrollment publicity requirements and the actual conditions of the target high schools, the team carefully formulated an enrollment publicity plan. They successively held multiple popular science lectures and admissions presentations at five schools: Mianyang Nanshan High School, Mianyang Nanshan High School Bilingual School, Dongchen School, Mianyang High School, and Guangyuan High School.
Associate Professor Wei Yi delivered a popular science report titled When Ecological Environment Meets Artificial Intelligence: Present, Future, and Beyond. Prompting reflection with the question, "What will the ecological environment field do in the AI era?", he vividly explained application cases of artificial intelligence technology in ecological environment monitoring, pollution control, and resource recycling, drawing on his research achievements in computational fluid dynamics, simulation and optimization of industrial and environmental protection equipment, and machine learning. Examples included accurately predicting the diffusion paths of atmospheric pollutants through machine learning algorithms, or using intelligent simulation technology to optimize the energy efficiency of new energy equipment, providing technical support for the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. He envisioned the future of the interdisciplinary field of "AI + Ecological Environment", encouraging students to pay attention to technological frontiers, actively embrace new technologies, cultivate interdisciplinary thinking, and write a wonderful life at the intersection of technology and environmental protection.
Deputy Secretary Li Ting gave a systematic introduction focusing on Lanzhou University's educational history, disciplinary advantages, campus culture, and talent training characteristics, and highlighted the enrollment policies and selection mechanisms of the "Strong Foundation Plan". She provided patient and detailed answers to students' concerns regarding major selection and policies on changing majors, encouraging students to consolidate their academic foundations and establish lofty ideals.
The atmosphere at the events was enthusiastic. It not only deepened the high school students' understanding of Lanzhou University but also stimulated their strong interest in the intersection of the ecological environment and artificial intelligence. It further enhanced Lanzhou University's reputation and influence in Sichuan Province and raised the awareness of related disciplines and majors.
